Whether you’re an avid bicyclist who likes to stay in shape year-round or is just looking for a new piece of equipment to add to your home gym, a spin bike can be a great addition.

Rather than braving the cold weather or risk riding in the dark, you can ride an indoor bike during any kind of weather and at any time of day which makes it convenient for anyone.

As with all types of home gym equipment, there are a variety of indoor spin bikes available, and if you’re not exactly sure what you’re looking for, your options can be a little overwhelming.

When looking for an indoor bicycle some of the common features that people look for include:

  • Versatility and durability for a variety of body shapes and sizes
  • A quiet, smooth, and comfortable ride
  • Easy to use and adjust
  • play
    Ergonomic design

While many of today’s top-of-the-line indoor bicycles have most of these features, the Schwinn Fitness AC Performance Plus Indoor Cycling Bike has all of these features.

Introducing the Schwinn Fitness AC Performance Plus Indoor Cycling Bike

After testing out many indoor cycling bikes, the Schwinn Fitness AC Performance Plus Indoor Cycling Bike is by far one of the versatile bikes for multiple users of various weights and heights.

Check out some of these important features to help you determine if it’s a good choice for you:

Since outdoor bicyclists come in all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels, it only makes sense that there’s an indoor cycling bike that is just as versatile.

Not only is it important for an indoor bike to accommodate multiple users of various heights and weights but the design itself should be comfortable. You would never ride an outdoor bicycle that doesn’t fit, and the same should apply to this indoor bicycle.

Having the ability to adjust some of the most important components of an indoor cycling bike can not only keep you comfortable for a longer period but can help you log more miles and meet new fitness goals.

The ErgoLoop handlebars are padded, easy to adjust for maximum comfort, have a 12-degree incline for multiple positions. Ergonomic handlebars can help minimize and even eliminate wrist, arm, and shoulder fatigue and strain while riding.

The padded contoured seat is 10.5” x 6” x 2,” which is a comfortable size for many users but it’s also easy enough to swap out if you prefer a smaller or larger saddle.

Double link pedals with SPD and toe-clip combination help to ensure a comfortable and secure fit while pedaling.

The toe clip also helps to reduce slippage and keeps the foot in constant contact with the pedal, equaling a good cycling form. Like the seat, the pedals are easy to change out if necessary.

In addition to being a versatile indoor bike for a multitude of users, the Schwinn Fitness AC Performance Plus performs and feels like you’re riding a real bike (a little bit better than some of the other indoor bikes on the market).

What makes the ride feel so real?

The magnetic brake chain drive system, the flywheel, and the belt drive all work together for a smooth and realistic ride. The belt drive, which is primarily polyurethane and has a core of carbon fiber tensile cords, has soft nylon teeth that “grab” the gears to create a quieter and smoother ride.

The one feature that stands out the most, when comparing to other spin bikes, is the belt drive which uses Carbon Blue technology.

The belt is primarily polyurethane but also includes a core of carbon fiber tensile cords. Soft nylon teeth “grab” the gears to create an optimal riding experience. Another plus to the belt is that it’s virtually maintenance-free.

What We Like

Despite its ability to comfortably accommodate users from 4’11” to 6’8” this indoor bike doesn’t take up much more space than comparable bicycles.

While it’s a little heavier than some similar models (weighing 112 pounds), the transporting wheels make it easy to move around a room or put into storage.

We also like that this bike, which is clearly a good example of Schwinn’s history of making high-quality products, that it requires very little maintenance, it’s easy to adjust for complete customization, and the aluminum frame is lightweight yet sturdy.

What We Don’t Like

With so many features to love, we are a little disappointed that there’s no display on the bike for tracking miles, calories burned, and other tracking details. While you can incorporate a console on this bike, it ends up being a separate purchase.

Although this indoor bike is completely customizable for a comfortable ride, it takes a while to adjust it to your liking, and if there are multiple users for this bike, it may be frustrating.

Buying Advice

The Schwinn Fitness AC Performance Plus Indoor Cycling Bike has many of the common features that people look for when considering an indoor bike.

Before purchasing this bike, and in efforts to avoid buying “extras,” be sure that you’re happy with the seat size, the pedal design, and the lack of a console.

Conclusion

This bike is a great option for users of all shapes and sizes and if you want a workout that feels like the “real thing” this bike might be just for you.

Since this costs around $2,000, we recommend that only avid cyclists who want to train during the off-season or serious, everyday users consider this bike otherwise it may not be worth the financial investment.
