Who is Schwinn?

Schwinn has been around a long time.  The American icon was founded in 1895 in Chicago, Illinois.  Throughout their long history, the company has been an innovator in more ways than one.

They rallied against imported bicycles in the 1950’s, sponsored racing teams, and created designs for kids like the Corvette and Sing-Ray that are still sought after today.  They were also one of the American pioneers of 10-speed technology in the 1960’s.

By the 1970’s, they also had market share in both BMX and mountain bikes, and continue to produce these designs for men, women, and children.

In 2001 the iconic company filed bankruptcy and was purchased by Pacific Cycle which was later acquired by Dorel Industries.  Today, the new owners have given the brand a contemporary spin while still keeping with many Schwinn traditions and offering the models at affordable, entry-level price points for most families.
