Finding a trace sport bike that fits your exact needs, has the features you want, and can withstand the abuse you'll put it through, while being able to handle a wide variety of terrains can be difficult to do.

For most people, a hybrid bike fits the bill perfectly.  Even though hybrids are the right choice, finding the perfect hybrid bike is frustrating because there are so many available and the price ranges seem to fluctuate wildly.

If you're like so many other people, money is an option.  You want a bike that fits your needs perfectly, but doesn't completely bust your budget at the same time.

When it comes to hybrid bikes, most manufacturers believe that both of these (functionality and affordability) aren't mutually exclusive, and many of those manufacturers are opting to charge hefty premiums for the bikes they're building.

There are some manufacturers, though, that understand there is a real need for an affordable bike that's also incredibly functional and durable.  One of those manufacturers is Diamondback, and the bike they've recently released, the Trace Sport, fits the bill perfectly.

When it comes to what you want in a bike, you have a lot of factors to consider.

The construction quality, the gears, the frame material and style are all important things to look for in a new bike. The Trace Sport Complete Dual Sport 2016 hybrid from Diamondback makes it easy to choose, delivering high quality and proven research in every area that matters.

Introducing the 2016 Trace Sport From Diamondback Bicycles

FRAME: Aluminum Alloy, Dual Sport

BREAKSET: Front, Rear

SHIFTERS: Shimano, 24 Gears

MEASUREMENTS: 16, 18 or 20 inch (small, med, large) package size 9 x 29 x 56 inches

This bike is pretty amazing.

It features aluminum alloy construction with forged dropouts that make it last a lot longer and withstand more punishment than most other bike frames do.

In addition to the durable aluminum alloy frame, you get to choose from a 16 inch small size, an 18 inch medium size, or a 20 inch larger sized frame, which means that everyone, no matter their height and weight, can find the perfect fit with the Trace Sport.

The Trace Sport has a lot of things to love that don’t usually come with even those more expensively priced hybrid bikes. The disc brakes are a really nice addition and give you plenty of stopping power at high speeds while increasing the safety factor of this bicycle.

Whether you are taking to the city streets, pedaling across campus or using this bike on the mountain trails you can rest assured knowing that it will hug every terrain, stop at a moment's notice, and keep you comfortable the entire time you're riding it.

the results?

When it comes to what makes this bike different than all of the other hybrid bikes currently being sold, this bike was designed to be everything and anything you could want.  Diamondback is known for listening to their customers and reading through reviews left by their riders, then improving on the areas that need to be improved.

While many hybrid bikes are designed to be great at one thing, and decently good at other things, the Diamondback Trace Sport was designed to be the only bike that you’ll need whether you are commuting, riding for sport, riding on the beach or riding through your favorite trails.

The quality that Diamondback has built into the new Trace Sport is easy to see, but one of the best features we've found is the dual sport frame, which provide the perfect balance between visibility and comfort and the high performance of the sport hybrid.

The results that come from this proven design are truly astounding and those who own this bike definitely agree.

Testimonials from 2016 trace sport owners

The customers who have bought the Diamondback Trace Sport have been happy with it for the most part. For example, one Amazon customer posted how pleased they were with how much bike they got for the small price they paid.  They were happy with how well-built the frame is, the classic paint scheme, and the support they received from Diamondback

They said that the bike was great right out of the box and even though there were some parts that would eventually have to be replaced they were quite happy with their purchase. Other people agreed, calling the bike fantastic and saying that it was well worth what they paid for it.

What to watch out For before buying this bike

Even though the Trace Sport has received raving reviews, there are still a few things you should keep an eye out for.

First, some reviewers complained that the bike was somewhat difficult to put together once they received it.  While most people didn't have any issues, it's worth noting that you may need a second set of hands to assemble it.

You will also want to be aware that the bike does not have a kickstand.  You can buy a universal kickstand to use, but if relying on the kickstand is something you do, or something you think you will do, you'll want to make sure you have one before you leave for your first ride.

Amazon sells some great kickstands for less than $$, so this isn't really a major issue, but it's worth noting since other hybrid bikes we've reviewed have built-in kickstands.

Buying Advice

If the price wasn't already attractive enough, Amazon is currently offering free shipping on the Diamondback Trace Sport, which makes the price tag even lower.  Other bikes cost upwards of $$ to have shipped to your front door, and aren't eligible for free shipping through Amazon's Prime program.

Amazon is also bundling a mini pump and puncture repair kit with every Trace Sport, which could cost another $$ to $$, depending on which ones you buy separately.  You can keep them on your bike so you're never down for the count, should something happen while you're out on the road.

Our Recommendation

As for whether or not we recommend this bike, we do with certain qualifications.

Remember, this is one of our choices for the best bikes under $$$$. That doesn’t mean that you are getting the same bike that you would receive if you were paying $$$$ for one.

But this is a really solid bike that is built to last a long time, and withstand whatever punishment you can throw at it.  It has been designed for comfort and performance, and has achieved the perfect balance between the two.  The frame, tires, and gears make it easily able to switch from tarmac, to asphalt, to dirt, and back again without missing a beat.

The Diamondback Trace Sport is a great hybrid bike for the price.
